Warriors travel to Walnut Grove Park for Millard South Invitational Friday
Westside's cross country teams will travel to Millard's Walnut Grove Park for the Millard South Invite. The JV boys race will begin at 4:30 p.m., followed by the varsity race at 5:30 p.m.
Last fall, the varsity squad finished in last place with 360 points. They will be looking to turn some heads against what is a highly competitive meet early in the season.
The first polls for Class A came out last week. Here is how the coaches poll shook out:
1. Kearney (19)
2. Fremont (3)
3. Creighton Prep
4. Millard West
T5. Lincoln East
T5. Lincoln Southwest
7. Millard North
8. Lincoln North Star
9. Papillion-La Vista
10. Papillion-La Vista South
Nine other schools received votes. The Warriors did not receive any votes.
"Luckily polls don't determine anything in cross country," Westside Boy's Cross Country Head Coach Derek Fey said. "We have to show up Oct. 13 for the district meet. The polls do give an interesting look at teams in our district. Prep and Millard North are both in our district and will provide a significant challenge."
The Warriors will run their JV runners at the Class of the Metro meet on Monday, Sept. 12 at Walnut Creek Park in Papillion.
