Gusty winds, tough course theme of the day at Metro Meet
The JV squad finished their season last Thursday at the Metro Cross Country Meet at Walnut Creek in Papillion. The day was less than ideal with sustained 30-35 mile per hour winds and an unrelenting course. Couple that with a pile-up at the finish line, and it became a memorable final meet for the Warrior JV squad.
Results are still being tabulated, and should be on our website by Tuesday. The boys JV meet was so large that the finish line became a pile-up. Runners stopped before the finish line as the chute backed up.
The varsity team used the meet as a final workout before the biggest meet of the year, the district meet at Lincoln.
The Warrior squad produced four All-Metro Academic award winners - tied with two other schools for the most winners. To be an All-Academic winner, the runner had to have a 3.8 GPA and must be a sophomore, junior, or senior that ran in the varsity meet the previous year, or be a senior running in the varsity race this year. Award winners were Ben Fenwick, Sam Lee, Max Lawlor, and Andrew McVea.
The Warriors run at Pioneers Park on Thursday at the District Cross Country Meet. The top three teams and the top 15 individuals qualify for the State Cross Country Meet, Friday, October 21 in Kearney, Nebraska.
